Killarney betting tips: Peter O'Hehir's selections for Wednesday's horse racing action

The Charles Byrnes-trained Doctor Duffy should register his third success over
hurdles on the opening day of Killarney’s August meeting.

Winner of his maiden hurdle on this track in May, Doctor Duffy went on to prove his stamina with a gutsy victory over an extended three miles in Kilbeggan and then performed creditably, when conceding weight to prolific chase winner Peregrine Run in Cork.

Last time, he was probably caught out in a messy race in Galway.

In a small field, he was held up by Davy Russell, didn’t jump with his usual fluency and was tapped for toe at a crucial stage before plugging on to finish fourth behind the Willie Mullins-trained Foveros, beaten little more than two lengths.

That was over two and a half miles. Today’s extra three furlongs will play to his strengths, against lesser opposition and with Robbie Power taking over in the saddle he should prove too strong for Everybreathyoutake, successful at Downpatrick and Roscommon before filling second spot behind Fred The Foot in Limerick last time.

The Noel Meade-trained Harvest Bow, runner-up to Hereia in the first juvenile
hurdle of the season, might put that experience to good use against Fujimoto Flyer and Clashaniska in the Francie Sheehan’s Bar Maiden Hurdle.

In the flat action, Delta Dawn should continue Aidan O’Brien’s excellent record with his two-year-olds on this track in the opening maiden.

Fourth to Zarziyni on his debut in Gowran Park, this
Galileo colt still looked quite raw when runner-up, beaten three-quarters of a length, behind stablemate Emperor Of The Sun in a four-runner maiden in Galway.

Delta Dawn is open to plenty of improvement, stays well and, with Seamus Heffernan on board, he should prove a tough nut to crack, with Ger Lyons' newcomer Camorra looking the likely threat.
