'Kill the Bill Protest' set to take place in Nottingham city centre

A 'Kill the Bill' protest has been planned in Nottingham city centre this weekend.

Nottingham City Council said attendance at this stage is unclear but approximately 50 people are expected, although this could change nearer to the date.

Organisers have since said the protest will begin at 11am on Saturday May 15 in Nottingham's Old Market Square, despite the council saying it would be at 12 noon next to the Robin Hood statue.

"Kill the Bill" protesters have in the past demonstrated against the Government's Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill, which will see the police handed new powers to tackle demonstrations.

Meanwhile, protesters will also be in the Old Market Square on Saturday in the wake of Palestine's conflict with Israel.

The event will provide Palestinian food and music.

It will take place from 12noon on Saturday, May 15, in the Old Market Square and was set up by the Nottingham Palestine Solidarity Campaign.
