Kilkenny v Wexford called off after another Covid-19 case

Another positive Covid-19 case in the Wexford panel has forced the postponement of their Allianz Hurling League clash with Kilkenny on Sunday.

Wexford were rocked by two positive cases of the virus among their players earlier this week.

This prompted the county to test the whole squad, with no more cases revealed.

But further tests on Friday confirmed that one further member of the panel has tested positive.

A Wexford County Board statement said: "Following receipt of these results at lunchtime today and further consultation with public health officials, it was agreed that there was a possibility of transmission with the squad and players will restrict movements until further testing next week."

It follows Clare standing down two players for their tie with Laois tomorrow after they were identified as close contacts of the two Wexford players who tested positive for Covid-19 following last weekend’s game between the two sides.
