Joey Holden, Paul Murphy and Richie Hogan are on the bench as the Kilkenny hurlers get their Leinster SFC challenge up and running against Dublin at Croke Park tomorrow (3.45pm).
Also omitted from the start is Conor Browne, while Adrian Mullen is sidelined through injury.
Brian Cody has gone with Ciarán Wallace, Richie Reid and Conor Delaney in his backline.
But the legendary Kilkenny boss has still selected an experienced side, with two-thirds of the line-up that started last year's All-Ireland final loss to Tipperary included here.
The Cats will look to hit the ground running as Dublin already have a championship game under their belt, last weekend's victory over Laois, and of course under the current format there can be no slip-ups for any side searching for provincial success.
Kilkenny (SH v Dublin): E Murphy; C Delaney, H Lawlor, C Wallace; P Walsh, P Deegan, R Reid; C Buckley, C Fogarty; J Donnelly, TJ Reid, W Walsh; B Ryan, C Fennelly, E Cody.
