Kilkenny team news: Richie Hogan earns start for All-Ireland semi-final

Richie Hogan's supersub cameo in the Leinster final has earned the veteran forward a start for Kilkenny in tomorrow's All-Ireland semi-final clash.

But Colin Fennelly and Walter Walsh have been relegated to the bench, while Richie Leahy missed out through injury.

Brian Cody will hope that Hogan, 32, will have the same impact against the Deise at Croke Park as he did there against Galway in the provincial decider a fortnight ago.

Hogan exploded into the action in the second half, helping to turn the tide against the Tribesmen by scoring 1-2 as Kilkenny and linking brilliantly with TJ Reid came from behind twice in a dramatic finish.

Walsh and Fennelly had quiet games and both were taken off by Cody, and pay the price by losing their starting slots for the semi-final, with Hogan and Billy Ryan named among the forwards instead.

Leahy's absence forces a change in the backs, with Paddy Deegan selected at left half-back and Conor Fogarty expected to start in midfield.

KILKENNY:  E Murphy; C Delaney, H Lawlor, T Walsh; P Walsh, C Buckley, P Deegan; C Browne, C Fogarty; J Donnelly, TJ Reid, M Keoghan; B Ryan, R Hogan, E Cody.
