Kilkenny legend Henry Shefflin set for return to hurling management

Henry Shefflin is set for a return to the sidelines to manage intermediate side Thomastown in the coming days.

The Kilkenny legend stepped away from management earlier this year after guiding his own club Ballyhale Shamrocks to successive All-Ireland titles.

The 10-time All-Ireland winner and 11-time All-Star is arguably the greatest to ever play the game, and is considered by many as the heir to Brian Cody's Kilkenny throne.

But with Cody showing no signs of retiring as manager of the Kilkenny hurlers, the former forward is expected to make his return to management with the intermediate club imminently, Irish Independent reports.

Thomastown have fallen at the final hurdle in their last two attempts at promotion to the senior ranks - they most recently lost out to Lisdowney on penalties in September.
