Kilkenny dad Seamus Walsh, 38, killed in horror truck crash in Australia

An Irish dad-of-one has been killed in a horror truck crash in Australia.

Seamus Walsh, 38, from Ballyhale in Co Kilkenny tragically died in the collision.

The incident took place at around midnight local time on Friday on the Pacific Highway near the town of Nabiac in New South Wales.

Local media reports that two B-double trucks were travelling on the motorway when they collided.

It is believed that Seamus, who has a seven-year-old daughter, died at the scene.

A second driver, aged in his 60s, was taken to John Hunter Hospital in nearby Newcastle where he is in a stable condition.

The Crash Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and will prepare a report for the Coroner.

Fianna Fail TD Bobby Aylward, who was a next-door neighbour of Seamus, said the community in Kilkenny was shocked by the news.

He told the Irish Mirror: "Details are scarce at the moment, but from what the family understands Seamus was instantly killed after the crash with another truck.

"He has been out in Australia for around 12 years, he's married with a 7-year-old daughter out there, it's very sad.

"My sympathies go out to the family at this very difficult time."
