Kildare woman uses background in architecture to create beautiful street wear

Aoife Hanrahan is the creator of Stencilize, a collection of intriguingly geometric designs in the form of apparel and accessories.

Stencilize specialises in "fun and high quality men's, women's and kids street wear and accessories", all of which is designed by Aoife in her home studio in Kildare.

The business, which sells apparel and homeware online and in-person at a variety of markets in Dublin, was actually a happy accident. Aoife is an Interior architect by trade and has had the opportunity to work with some of the most creative designers in Dublin. Once the recession hit, Aoife, with her love for street art and culture, soon started to experiment and the result was Stencilize.

Aoife reveals to Dublin Live: "Everything is very geometric and a lot of it is based on animals. I have a background in architecture, so that's where a lot of the geometric shapes come from. I print and design everything myself in my studio in Kildare."

Aoife's love for clean, crisp lines and simple geometric forms results in some beautifully eye-catching items that will add intrigue to any wardrobe.

Speaking about her love of markets while standing at her stall in The Well at Dublin's St Stephen's Green, Aoife tells Dublin Live:

"This is my second market back since lockdown. It's been lovely to get out and meet people and talk to customers.

"You make really good friends doing the markets. It's like a village. Everyone really kind of pulls together. It's in everyone's interest for the markets to go well."

Aoife's designs have led to some work in The National Gallery of Ireland and Kildare Village, solidifying her as one of the most unique designers and independent sellers in the greater Dublin area.
