KILDARE boss Glenn Ryan is weighing up his next move after the GAA hit him with two proposed eight week suspensions.
Ryan is facing a rap for his post match comments in the media after Kildare’s last gasp All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final defeat by Monaghan nine days ago.
The lily whites boss directed his remarks at Mayo referee Jerome Henry, while he also entering the official’s changing room at O’Connor Park after the game.
GAA chiefs looked at Ryan’s comments in the media and Henry’s match report, before deciding to hit the Kidare legend with two proposed concurrent eight week bans.
Ryan is also facing a possible two match suspension, a measure introduced by the GAA to prevent manager’s escapting punishment when their season is over.
The former Longford boss said that Henry’s display “proved tonight that he was out of his depth.”
He added: "I can’t understand in a big game like that, you have a top class official like David Gough doing the line who was equally scratching his head on the line with me on occasions."
Ryan has the option to plead his case before the Central Hearings Committee (CHC) and can also go to the Central Appeals Committee (CAC) and the Disputes Resolution Authority (DRA).
If Ryan accepts the proposed ban and decides to see out the final year of his three year term with Kildare he will be suspended from the sideline for the first two games of next year’s Division 2 campaign.
