Kildare dampen speculation linking Jack O’Connor with manager's role

Kildare have attempted to dampen speculation linking Jack O’Connor with the senior football manager’s role.

It is believed that O’Connor is the preferred choice to succeed Cian O’Neill though the county board has released a one-line statement pointing out that the process has not yet been completed.

It simply read: “Kildare GAA wish to state that there is no decision made on the position of the Kildare senior football manager.”

O’Connor was linked with the Kildare job in the past and has links to the county given that his sons Eanna and Cian play for reigning county champions Moorefield, with whom he has been involved with in an advisory capacity.

He last managed at senior inter-county level with Kerry in 2012 and has since won two All-Ireland minor titles with his native county before taking charge of the under-20/21s for the past four seasons.

The Dromid Pearses man was in the running for a third stint as Kerry senior boss last year before the job went to Peter Keane.
