Kildare-based drinks company set to thrill A-listers' tastebuds at the Oscars 2021

A Kildare company that landed its vitamin drinks in the Oscar goodie bags has launched in the US.

The Naked Collective co-founder Niall Phelan said he's hopeful that Carey Mulligan will be sipping a Mude drink at the pre-Oscar's soiree.

The carbon-neutral company’s Mude range of drinks will take their place in the VIP goodie bags at the main pre-Oscars reception, prior to the main event in the Lux Hotel in Sunset Boulevard.

Commenting on the coup, Dubliner Niall, 42, told the Irish Mirror: “Of course we’d love Carey Mulligan to be spotted sipping our drinks.

“Look, having any of the stars doing a selfie with our products even on the way to the Oscars I’d be thrilled with.

“The hope is that it captures a bit of attention and it’s great as we’re literally going live in Canada and the US this weekend with our products being sold through Amazon.”

Niall and his business partner Catherina Butler impressed Hollywood's elite championing sustainability and fighting climate change.

Niall explained: “There’s a fantastic business called, Women Who do Wonders, a network of women who are trying to make a difference in the world, they made it happen.”

Rhona Morrell, who runs the company's sustainability initiatives, connected with the team and they reached out to her from LA when the goodie bags were up for discussion.

Niall added: “The team running the Oscar goodie bags are working with purpose-driven brands.

“We’re rebuilding the animal sanctuary down at the Peruvian Amazon and that captured the Oscar boss's attention.

“It was able to hold 20 animals at a time, these animals were displaced as the forest had been burnt down or the zoos had closed down because of covid in central America.

“We’ve just given a commitment to quadruple the size of that and their purpose is to take those animals and rehabilitate them and rewild them.

“A Lot of people just focus on planting trees, but the guys in Hoja Lueva are in the process of buying 4000 hectares of Amazon to protect it.

“If you just have the trees there and the animals are still being displaced, you don’t get the benefits of climate change, you don’t get that real impact of carbon reduction.

“You’ve got to rewild both the plants and the animals because it’s an ecosystem and it’s about simple things, like helping the trees regenerate and moving seeds around.

“Hoja Lueva is amazing, they’re all volunteers, we’re right in the middle of that partnership, which is very exciting.”

Closer to home The Naked Collective are helping to regenerate the bog in the midlands.

Niall explained: “Our approach to sustainability is not that sexy, we’re re-introducing worms back into the soil.

“We’re working on a restoration project in the Midlands in bogland.

“Every acre of peatland you can restore is the equivalent of 25 acres of planting trees in terms of the amount of carbon it captures.

“It’s a biggie for us to say, let’s do something local and internationally, we work with Ark 2030 in Ireland, they’re incredible.

“Nearly all of our peatlands have been destroyed.”

The Mirror’s Siobhan O’Connor talks Mude drinks after her 14-day challenge

Look if it’s good enough for Carey Mulligan at this year's Oscars, it’s good enough for little me!

The 14-day challenge of sipping the Mude drinks has been nothing shorter than delicious.

I was shocked at how tasty the drinks were considering how good they are for you.

There are five different drinks all packed with vitamins and minerals.

You have one to relax with the ‘chill’ drink, you’ve got one called ‘work’ if you need to focus on work.

If you need natural energy at the end of the day you have ‘play’.

One drink daily was all I needed to build my immunity for the 14 days helping to build a normally functioning immune system. (I haven’t even had a sniffle).

I felt the benefits after 10 days, more energy and more calm working from home.

On a Friday evening after a run my, bevvie of choice was the Mude drink, refuelling and immediate rehydration.

When I drank the Chill beverage, I felt a bit of a Bob Marley moment after about 10 minutes, it was pure zen.

I don’t drink soft drinks so I loved how this range was carbonated with a vitamin hit.

Filled with vitamins and minerals, the Naked Collection Mude drinks make you feel good.

All the botanicals are grown in the UK in an organic farm specific.

I loved the Sleep can with 1000 milligrams of organic cold-pressed chamomile flower, it was a really relaxing way to unwind before bed.

The cans are priced at between 2 euro to 2.50. So affordable!

Children can drink them too, there’s very little sugar in it 7 grammes in a full can, compared to on average 35 grammes in soft drinks on average.

I found I was able to deal with stress in a different way, in fact manage it better, my skin has been glowing and I’ve lots of energy.
