Kilbarrack firefighters rescue mum and baby as they become locked in bedroom of home with pot on stove downstairs

A Dublin mum and baby had a lucky escape today after becoming locked in a bedroom while a pot was on the stove downstairs.

As she realised that there was no escape, the mum called on firefighters from Kilbarrack to the rescue while the pot continued to heat up downstairs.

Dublin Fire Brigade quickly sprung into action and climbed up through an upstairs window upon arrival to avoid disaster.

While the fire brigade normally recommend a locksmith for such incidents - a pot on the stove could have led to a fire and a serious risk to the mother and baby's safety.

Dublin Fire Brigade said: "Kilbarrack’s D Watch came to the rescue when a bedroom lock failed trapping Mum & baby inside, with a pot on the stove downstairs.

"We recommend locksmiths for most lock in/out cases, however when there is a real and immediate risk to safety we will of course help out."

Brilliant work by our brave firefighters, as always!
