Kilauea: Hawaii volcano forces thousands to flee their homes

Nearly 2,000 people in Hawaii have been displaced by the erupting Kilauea volcano.

No one has been killed or seriously wounded so far and authorities say that is largely due to residents' preparedness and an effective evacuation plan.

But past eruptions on the Big Island have led to mass casualties and even affected the global climate.
