Kiko Casilla to Leeds United transfer on with Real Madrid goalkeeper set for medical after skipping training

Real Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Casilla is set to undergo his medical examination this afternoon ahead of a transfer to Leeds United.

Casilla missed Madrid training on Tuesday and was given permission to travel to Leeds ahead of Real’s Copa del Rey last-16 second leg game against Leganes tonight.

The former Espanyol goalkeeper started his career in the youth ranks at Real and returned to Madrid in 2015, featuring 43 times in all competitions and winning 10 trophies in that time.

The Catalan, who has also been capped once by Spain, was back-up to Keylor Navas in the last three seasons at the club.

However, the 32-year-old has found himself frozen out since the arrival of Thibaut Courtois in the summer and has not featured for a single minute this season.

Transfer News and Rumours, Tuesday 15th January

Courtois is currently sidelined with a hip problem, so Navas will start against Leganes tonight and Luca Zidane will replace Casilla on the bench.
