Kiko Casilla formally charged by The FA for Charlton Athletic incident with Jonathan Leko

Kiko Casilla remains available for Leeds United selection after The Football Association today charged him with an alleged rule breach.

The Spanish goalkeeper was the subject of an allegation of discrimination following September 28’s match at Charlton Athletic.

The Addicks confirmed Jonathan Leko was the alleged victim and since then there has been a private investigation ongoing.

Having gathered the evidence it feels necessary, The FA has now formally charged Casilla with an alleged breach of FA Rule E3 which pertains to general behaviour.

This includes improper acts which bring the game into disrepute. For example: violent conduct, serious foul play, threatening, abusive, indecent or insulting behaviour.

In a statement issued this afternoon, the Whites stress Casilla’s strenuous denials throughout the process and his co-operation with the governing body.

Casilla remains available for selection until he is given a personal hearing on the matter, which is, as yet, undated.

“Leeds United Football Club acknowledges the charge from the FA today relating to Kiko Casilla and an alleged breach of FA Rule E3 during our Sky Bet Championship match with Charlton Athletic at The Valley in September,” the club said.

“Kiko strenuously denies the allegation and has proactively worked with the FA during their investigation to date.

“The next step of this process will be a personal hearing, in the meantime Kiko will remain available for selection.”
