Kieron Dyer makes Steve Bruce plea after 'boring' Newcastle United claim

Kieron Dyer has welcomed Steve Bruce's bold team selection to face Wolves and believes Newcastle United have been 'boring' to watch over the last five years.

The Magpies boss made four changes following last weekend's 4-1 defeat to Manchester United, with Joelinton, Emil Kraft, Isaac Hayden and Jonjo Shelvey coming out of the team.

Shelvey will miss the next month of action after surgery on his groin, whilst Hayden is amongst the substitutes alongside Kraft and Joelinton but was taken off in the first half of last weekend's clash.

Bruce has opted for a much more attacking personnel, with Allan Saint-Maximin, Callum Wilson, Jacob Murphy, Ryan Fraser and Miguel Almiron all starting, due to their injuries in midfield.

Having established themselves as a mid-table team under Rafa Benitez and then Bruce, Dyer believes that Newcastle have become 'boring' and need to take more risks to entertain their supporters, rather than trying to grind out results.

“We were trying to predict the team and we all got it wrong," Dyer told Sky Sports ahead of kick-off.

"Six wingers in the team, let’s say. I’m looking forward to it. Steve Bruce has done a good job and Rafa did a good job before that, but I’m bored watching Newcastle.

"They bore me, it’s like they’re grinding out results. Newcastle wanna be entertainers, and now you look at this team, surely there are some goals in this team.

"Me, as an ex-Newcastle player, wants to see Newcastle being entertaining. Newcastle have been boring for the last five years as a fan.”
