Former Tottenham defender Kieran Trippier has posted a message to Spurs supporters following the completion of a £20m transfer to La Liga club Atletico Madrid.
The full-back has bought a four year stay in North London to an end, having made 114 appearances for the club, scoring two goals and providing 24 assists.
The 28-year-old had a difficult final season with the club, after managing a groin injury for the majority of the campaign. Despite this, he was part of the squad who reached the Champions League final, playing the full 90 minutes of the encounter against fellow Premier League side Liverpool.
After sealing his move to Spain, Trippier has taken to social media to post a goodbye message to the fans who have supported him for the past four seasons.
"THANK YOU. I’ve met some amazing people at @spurs, many of whom I now call my friends," the player wrote on his Instagram page.
"To the Tottenham fans from around the world – you’ve been amazing. The support you’ve shown me and the team took us to new heights, and with the new stadium I have no doubt that the team and fans have many exciting times ahead!
"Wish everyone at the club nothing but the best."
Trippier became a national hero when he scored an early free-kick to give England the lead in their World Cup semi-final against Croatia in the summer of 2018.
Since then, the defender has failed to reach the same heights, but will be hoping that a move to the continent will provide him with a chance to show what he can do in a new environment.
