Kieran Trippier's brothers speak of their immense pride in the England star

Kieran Trippier's brothers have spoken of their huge pride in the Three Lions star, saying his journey from Bury schoolboy to England international was 'what every child wants to do'.

Kelvin and Chris Trippier spoke to the Manchester Evening News from the beer garden of The Garsdale Pub in Bury, which Kelvin owns.

Bury-born Kieran made his England debut in June 2017.

He has remained a key part of the squad under Gareth Southgate, with his performances praised at Euro 2020.

The pub's beer garden was packed as England faced Denmark in the semi-finals.

Chris said of his brother: "I am really, really proud.

"Whether he is playing or whether he is on the bench, I am absolutely buzzing for him and buzzing for the whole team to be honest.

"It's a full team effort."

Chris went on to praise England's defence.

"I think England have done really well. It's amazing.

"They have all played really well."

Speaking before kick-off, Chris predicted a 3-0 win for England.

Kelvin Trippier, Kieran's other brother, said it was lovely to see so many people out enjoying the game.

"Everyone is enjoying themselves and the drinks are flowing.

"I think it will be a tough game, but the lads can turn it on."

Kelvin said he was bursting with pride at his brother's performances so far at Euro 2020.

"It's what every child wants to do - they want to play for their country and they want to play in a big tournament.

"Luckily enough, he has managed to do that.

"We are all buzzing for him."

Full-back Trippier, who plays in Spain for Athletic Madrid, was honoured by his home town Bury after the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

He scored a penalty in the round of 16 shoot-out with Colombia and the first goal, an unforgettable free kick, in the semi-final tie against Croatia, which England lost 2-1 in extra time.

He remains only third Englishman to have scored in a World Cup semi-final - and the first from Bury.
