Kieran Trippier has revealed "behind the scenes" issues at Tottenham hastened his move to Atletico Madrid earlier this month.
Trippier signed a three-year deal with the Liga giants, bringing the curtain down on a four-year spell at Spurs.
The 28-year-old arrived at Tottenham as Kyle Walker's deputy but made the right-back role his own following Walker's £50million move to Manchester City in 2017.
Trippier helped Tottenham seal a fourth successive top-four finish last term and made eight appearances in Europe during the club's run to the Champions League final.
But the former Burnley man has revealed issues surfaced during his time at the club which eventually prompted him to look for a move away.
"I think it was time for me to change and move on," he said.
"I don't necessarily mean that I needed to move on, but things happened behind the scenes at Tottenham, which I don't really want to go into, but I needed to move on from that."
