Kieran Trippier is confident that he can secure a move to Manchester United this summer.
The England international is currently at Atletico Madrid and won the La Liga title last year as their first-choice right-back, then started the Euro 2020 final with England that they lost to Italy on penalties during the summer.
Throughout the tournament he has been linked with a move to Manchester United where he is wanted to provide competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka in defence but talk has gone quiet recently amid a stalemate over the fee between the clubs.
However according to Manchester Evening News, as Trippier enters the final year of his contract with the Spanish club he is confident that a deal will materialise eventually with Atletico desperate to raise funds due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Further up the pitch in midfield is the news that the club have entered the race for French midfielder Hossem Aouar. The Lyon star was heavily linked with a move away from the club last summer, with Arsenal involved in the pursuit for his signature, but nobody matched the €60m (£51m) price tag that the club put on his head.
But with two years left on his contract, Aouar is now reportedly available for just €25m (£21.5m) after Lyon missed out on Champions League football.
United could make a move should they lose Paul Pogba, according to ESPN, with Aouar seen as an ideal replacement in the central midfield department for a cut-price. Lyon are keen sellers this summer, having let Memphis Depay run his contract down and watched him join Barcelona on a free transfer this summer.
Raphael Varane's transfer to Old Trafford is seen as incredibly likely at this point too, at least according to the bookies. The Reds were installed as heavy favourites, with odds available as low as 1/4 for the 28-year-old World Cup winner to join Manchester United this summer.
