Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier has said his team 'weren't clinical enough' after they were knocked out of the FA Cup third-round by League One side Sheffield Wednesday last night.
The Owls held out in the first half and eventually broke the deadlock just five minutes after the break when Josh Windass poked the ball underneath Martin Dubravka to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.
The 28-year-old made it 2-0 after a poor header from Bruno Guimaraes was intercepted by Michael Smith and passed into the path of Windass who slotted it past the Serbian goalkeeper.

The Magpies did eventually bring it back to 2-1 following a header from Guimaraes but it proved too little too late for Eddie Howe's side despite a barrage of chances int he final few minutes including an awful miss from striker Chris Wood who skied a one-on-one chance over the bar.
Trippier admitted that they might have left themselves too much to do after going 2-0 down, but says they shouldn't have ever been in that position in the first place.
"Obviously when they go 2-0 up, it's always going to be a difficult task coming to a place like this but before they did go 2-0 up, we had our chances and we didn't take them.
"I've said many times we need to be more clinical and coming to places like this, they don't give you easy games. We don't like losing, we've been on a good run but they'd been on a good run of form themselves in their league but there's no excuses from ourselves tonight.
"People can say 'there's no VAR tonight', but that's football. You have to give credit to their goalkeeper, he pulled off four or five unbelievable saves so he deserves huge credit from their side.
"We've got some quality finishers in our team though, so it's not been good enough and in recent games, maybe that's where we've let ourselves down, just not being clinical enough."
The Magpies defender noted that while the defeat is a tough pill to swallow, they must put the loss behind them if they want to continue their success they've enjoyed so far this season.
"It has to be [the plan to put the game behind them] because we're going to lose football matches. And tonight we lost. But we can't focus too much on this game now, we're going to have to move on and forget about it because we have another massive game coming up against Leicester.
"We can't think too much of this game, we just need to dust ourselves down and get ready for that game against Leicester."
