Kieran Trippier agrees with Rio Ferdinand about Thomas Partey ahead of Man City vs Arsenal

Arsenal take on Manchester City this weekend, with Mikel Arteta set to face his former employers for the third time as a manager since leaving for the Emirates.

He will do so with the addition of Thomas Partey to his squad, after the Gunners sealed a £45million deadline day move for the midfielder.

And ahead of a potential Premier League debut for the Ghana international, Arsenal fans have been reminded that their newest signing is tailor-made for the top flight in England.

That is according to Atletico and England defender Kieran Trippier.

Kevin De Bruyne withdraws from Belgium squad ahead of Arsenal

Speaking in June, the former Spurs right-back told the Beautiful Game podcast: "I'd seen him play for Atletico but I didn't realise how good he is.

"He's unbelievable, his physicality, how he breaks up play. Technically he's got everything.

"He ranks as one of the best midfielders I've played with, but Mousa [Dembele] is Mousa and he's on a different planet that guy. Even in training, he was in cruise control.

"Thomas is still a very young player and everyone loves him out here.

"Going to the Premier League who knows? Obviously I want him to stay here because he's a valuable member to our team.

"He speaks perfect English, very good English. I don't think he'd have a problem with the Premier League."

Partey has also seemingly received a seal of approval from former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.

Speaking earlier this year, Ferdinand appeared on The Beautiful Game Podcast and was listing players that he thought Manchester United should sign in the summer to bolster their squad, and Partey was amongst them.

Ferdinand said: "I'd maybe go get [Thomas] Partey from Atletico Madrid or [Wilfred] Ndidi from Leicester.

"I like Saul Niguez. He’s a very, very good player in midfield."
