Kieran Tierney to Arsenal: Celtic expect fresh bid despite star's injury problems

Celtic boss Neil Lennon is braced for another bid for Kieran Tierney despite the Arsenal target struggling with injury problems as the transfer window comes to a close.

Tierney, 22, underwent a double hernia operation earlier this year, and is also struggling with a hip problem - and Bhoys boss Lennon says the defender is still some way off a return to action.

Arsenal have seen numerous bids for the Scotland international rejected, and while Tierney would likely be unavailable for the Gunners for some weeks should a deal be done, Lennon believes another offer will be made before the Premier League's August 8 deadline.

"Kieran started kicking a ball on Wednesday, but he’s still feeling some discomfort there," Sky Sports reports Lennon as saying.

"We’ll see how it is when things settle down because it’s a very unsettling time for him at the minute."

Regarding Arsenal's interest in the wing-back, Lennon said: "Nothing has changed yet.

"It’s not speaking from insider knowledge, but in my experience another bid will come in.

"I’d be surprised if it didn’t. I’d also be delighted if if didn’t, but the good things is we will know either way by the end of the week when the window shuts down there.

"It’s not our problem, but the next few days might be spent sitting by the phone. Kieran is still feeling pain.

"He was out kicking a ball on Wednesday and just felt a lot of discomfort. I don’t know how far away he is."
