Kieran Tierney to Arsenal 'announced' by Adidas but all is not as it seems

Kieran Tierney to Arsenal is the latest summer transfer saga.

The Celtic left back is in no apparent hurry to leave his boyhood heroes but Unai Emery is desperate to make him an Arsenal player before the end of the window.

The English deadline is almost three weeks before Scotland's as well so even if it goes down to the latter stages, there will still be time to replace Tierney should the English Premier League side finally stump up.

Celtic will only sell if Arsenal match their £25million asking price and so far they have been unable to do so.

But it didn't stop fans panicking when they saw a tweet from Adidas on Monday afternoon.

The sports brand have just launched Arsenal's new home kit for next season and tweeted a message, seemingly to Tierney, that said: "This is home. Welcome to the squad. Now it's time to seal the deal - order your new home shirt here".

Although it sent panic into some sections of the Hoops support, there isn't actually any need to worry themselves over Adidas perhaps leaking the move.

The actual truth behind it is it was simply a wind-up from a football account on Twitter.

Adidas had previously tweeted a competition for supporters to 'win a place in the squad'. They had said: "You're not born a Londoner, you're made one. Introducing the 2019/20 Arsenal home kit, exclusively available through adidas and official club stores. Like this tweet and you could join the squad... Look out for a reply."

Unfortunately for them, the lucky 'winner' of the tweet changed his account to pretend to be Tierney with the handle @K_Tierney22, while Tierney's actual account is @kierantierney1. The prankster’s account has now been deleted.
