Kieran Tierney set for first Arsenal appearance as former Celtic star is named in U23 starting XI

Former Celtic star Kieran Tierney will make his long awaited comeback from injury to play for Arsenal U23s.

The left back was a £25m signing for the Gunners but hasn't made an appearance in red and white due to his ongoing injury issues.

Tierney last played in a win over Aberdeen in May because of a groin problem as well as a hernia operation.

But he's back in action after being named at left back for the young Gunners with fellow injured full back Hector Bellerin on the right.

He left Celtic on England's deadline day after 170 appearances for the club having won the league title on four occassions.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery will be hoping Tierney comes through unscathed and can then be pushed into the first team with a lack of options at left back.

Sead Kolasinic is currently the only senior defender and he picked up a knock against Frankfurt in the Europa League.
