Kieran Tierney set for extended Arsenal injury lay-off as club confirm worst fears

Arsenal star Kieran Tierney faces another lengthy spell on the sidelines after the club confirmed the defender suffered a dislocated shoulder in the 3-1 win over West Ham.

The former Celtic defender was left visibly upset after being forced off during the first half of the victory at the London Stadium.

Arsenal interim boss Freddie Ljungberg admitted it didn't look good and Tierney is now facing a spell away from the game due to the knock.

And the club revealed further "assessment and investigations" are pending.

Tierney started his first game under the Swede, who is in interim charge after Unai Emery was binned by the misfiring Gunners last month.

It's been a frustrating first season at the Emirates for the £25m left-back who has struggled for regular game time with his new team.

Tierney's quest to hit the ground running was slowed as he recovered from double hernia surgery in the summer with most of his early appearances coming in the Carabao Cup and the Europa League .

The Athletic's David Ornstein revealed Tierney had already been nursing a shoulder injury and that was the a contributing factor behind his lack of minutes in recent weeks.
