Arsenal full-back Kieran Tierney has said that Hector Bellerin was one of the first players to help him settle at the Emirates Stadium after his move from Celtic.
The Scotsman completed the move last summer, signing a five-year deal at the Emirates Stadium, although he endured an injury-hit first season at the club.
He made five Premier League appearances between the start of the campaign and the return of the league after lockdown.
However, the 23-year-old pushed on after the return, featuring in every game, including the FA Cup final victory over Chelsea.
Moving to Arsenal from Celtic, where he came up through the youth team, was a big move for the player, but he credits Bellerin with helping him to settle so quickly.
“Hector was the first one who kind of put his arm around me,” he told Ian Wright on his AFamilyThing series .
“He’s brilliant and helped me massively.
“Then when I got back more training involved it was like Rob Holding and Calum Chambers, kind of the English boys who helped me as well.”
It’s not the first time that Bellerin’s off-field influence has been felt by players, with Dani Ceballos also talking about the friendship forged with the full-back .
Bellerin has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium this summer, with Paris Saint-Germain one of the clubs to have shown interest.
Arsenal may decide to cash in on the full-back this summer in order to raise funds for new signings, but if his teammates’ comments are anything to go by, then Arsenal will be losing much more than just a player.
