Kieran Tierney: Scotland boosted as Arsenal defender returns to training ahead of England Euros clash

Scotland have been handed a boost ahead of their Euro 2020 clash with England on Friday after Kieran Tierney returned to training.

Steve Clarke, the Scotland manager, split his squad for the session on Tuesday, with the Arsenal full-back joining those who had not played in the 2-0 defeat by the Czech Republic at Hampden Park.

Tierney sat out Monday's game, which leaves Scotland bottom of Group D, with what Clarke described as a "little niggle".

Clarke admitted after the defeat that his preparations had to change with the injury to Tierney - but that he was confident the full-back would be available to face England at Wembley.

He said: "We will work on him over the next few days and he has got a chance of being fit for Friday.

"Obviously we'd done a lot of work on team shape and Kieran was involved in that.

"With 48 hours to go when he picks up the little niggle that kept him out, it does take a little bit of changing, it changes the dynamic of the team.

"Kieran has been an integral part of how we have played recently but I don't think we defended too badly."
