Kieran Tierney's transfer mindset amid Arsenal interest as Neil Lennon spies Celtic opportunity

Neil Lennon has commended Kieran Tierney's mental strength amid intense transfer interest from Arsenal.

The Gunners have had two bids for the Celtic star rejected and are expected to return with a third before the English transfer window closes on August 8.

Lennon admits the speculation has been unsettling for the 22-year-old, who is also dealing with an extended period of rehab following a double hernia operation.

The Premiership champions are braced for another offer but the Hoops boss is keeping his cool.

"There's only one show in town in regards to Kieran with the English window shutting on Thursday," Lennon said. "So we need to see if another bid comes in.

"It can be an unsettling period for any player but we've rejected two bids and the club knows the valuation we value Kieran at and it hasn't been met yet so things are as you were

"He's dealing with it very well.

"It comes from all angles, especially social media, and he's only 22, so you have to be mindful of that as well.

"He's trying to keep his feet on the ground and stay focused on the present."

With the transfer deadline in England set to pass well before Scotland, Lennon senses an opportunity to delve into the bloated market down south.

English clubs can still sell or loan players out after their window shuts and players who are not currently within Celtic 's grasp could become available over the next few weeks.

And Lennon added: "I think that it helps us, it gives us a bit longer to assess things.

"Players may become available that aren’t at the minute, they could be looking for first team football, the opportunity to try something fresh.

"So yes, I feel that the extra few weeks is an advantage to us."
