Arsenal full-back Kieran Tierney has sent a message to former Arsenal manager Unai Emery after he was dismissed on Friday morning.
The full-back was one of Emery's last signings as Arsenal boss, arriving on deadline day of the summer transfer window. Injury has though limited the 22-year-old to just three Premier League appearances under the Spaniard.
The announcement of Emery's sacking came after a 2-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League, which left the Gunners winless in seven games in all competitions.
The club statement read: "We announce today that the decision has been taken to part company with our head coach Unai Emery and his coaching team.
"Speaking on behalf of the Arsenal board and our owners Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, Josh Kroenke said: “Our most sincere thanks go to Unai and his colleagues who were unrelenting in their efforts to get the club back to competing at the level we all expect and demand. We wish Unai and his team nothing but future success.”"
Pressure had been mounting on the head coach for some time, with fans holding up posters demanding the sacking during the Europa League tie.
After the announcement was made, players, including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and David Luiz have sent messages to their former manager, and Tierney has now added to that list.
Posting on his Instagram stories, the Scotland international simply wrote: "Thank you and good luck."
Arsenal travel to Carrow Road to take on Norwich City tomorrow, where they will be under the guidance of caretaker manager Freddie Ljungberg.
