Kieran Tierney's Arsenal future predicted as John Hartson urges fans to appreciate former Celtic left-back

Kieran Tierney has the makings of a future Arsenal captain, according to former Gunners striker John Hartson.

The left-back became the most expensive Scottish player of all time last summer when he made a £25million move from Celtic.

Initially the Scotland international struggled to get into the team after having arrived with a hernia injury and then being sidelined with a shoulder problem.

Now though Tierney has established himself as Arsenal's first-choice left-back and Hartson believes he could be given the armband one day.

He said on TalkSPORT: "We've seen lot of him up here watching the Scottish Premiership.

"He was outstanding at Celtic for many a year, played lot of European games.

"Champions League games, picked up trebles and trophies. He's clearly a winner.

"I think the Arsenal fans and a lot of people that are watching the English Premier League need to realise how good this kid is.

"He's an outstanding player, he gets forward, he's got an FA Cup winner's medal under his belt, a Community Shield medal.

"Initially he was injured and was in and out a little bit with his groin, he couldn't quite find his best form.

"But now that he's settled he's a future Arsenal captain for me, 100 per cent."
