Kieran Tierney reveals lingering Celtic influence as he cites Scott Brown in response to Arsenal captain query

Kieran Tierney admits he would love to become a great leader at Arsenal in the mould of Scott Brown at Celtic.

The 24-year-old has been a hit in the English Premier League since his departure from Parkhead back in 2019.

The tough-tackling and commitment of Tierney has led to some Arsenal supporters calling for him to be handed the armband.

While the Scotland cap insists he is only concentrated on his form, he told Sky Sports he would like to lead out the Gunners one day.

Tierney admits Brown's leadership style is some thing he would like to replicate if Mikel Arteta appointed him as skipper at some stage.

During his successful stint in Glasgow's east end, he lifted five league titles, two League Cups and two Scottish Cups alongside skipper Brown at Parkhead.

When asked about the possibility of becoming Arsenal captain, Tierney said: "I feel as if I’ve learned off some great leaders.

"I always go back to Scott Brown, I think he’s the perfect example of a leader.

"He was born to be a leader, what he’s done in his career and how he carried the team for years and years, I learned off him.

"I came here and there are leaders here that I’m learning off as well and at Scotland as well.

"I’ve been lucky enough to captain Celtic and Scotland at a young age, it’s something that, of course, would be an honour to captain your national team or the club you’re playing for.

"I just need to concentrate on giving 100 per cent. You can still be a leader without the armband."
