Arsenal signing Kieran Tierney revealed when fans can expect to see his debut after he joined the Gunners from Celtic on transfer deadline day.
In one of the long-running transfer sagas of the summer, Arsenal finally signed Scotland left-back Tierney after agreeing to stump up the £25million Celtic wanted.
The Gunners kick off their new Premier League campaign away to Newcastle on Sunday - but it looks like Arsenal fans will have to wait to see Tierney in action.
The 22-year-old has not played since the middle of May, having been out of action throughout Celtic's pre-season campaign following a hernia operation.
And it looks like as though Tierney will not make his Premier League debut until after the next international break.
And as he met his new team-mates yesterday he was overheard telling centre-back Rob Holding he would not be back until the end of September, according to Metro .
Tierney will wear the No3 shirt in Unai Emery’s new-look Arsenal team - but will face competition for the left-back spot from Sead Kolasinac and Nacho Monreal.
The Gunners also signed centre-back David Luiz from rivals Chelsea on transfer deadline day, while over the summer Emery also secured teenage Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli, midfielder Dani Ceballos on loan from Real Madrid , defender William Saliba from Saint-Etienne for £27m, and forward Nicolas Pepe from Lille for £72m.
Tierney said of his move from boyhood club Celtic : “It was the hardest decision in my whole life that I've had to make. I had to speak to my family and my close friends and my agent as well because it's a hard decision to leave a club that you love so much. People need to know that as well.
“I’ve come to London and I want to make some noise. I feel Arsenal is a massive club and it's a great opportunity for me as well. I'm delighted to be here. Now I just feel was the right time to take a step on. I feel this is a great opportunity for me.
“It feels great. I'm delighted to be here. Obviously I'm injured now, but I'm just looking forward to getting back on the pitch, training and getting involved with the squad.”
