Kieran Tierney is set to head home to Glasgow after being ruled out of Scotland's clash against San Marino.
The left-back missed the humiliating 3-0 defeat to Kazakhstan through injury and now under-fire boss Alex McLeish has suffered a further blow.
The Celtic star won't make the trip to face the international minnows and Tierney will instead return to his parent club.
Skipper Andy Robertson, who also missed Thursday's loss, could yet return for Sunday's fixture as he recovers from dental surgery.
McLeish has come under heavy fire for the result and a Record Sport poll shows more than 90 per cent of supporters want him gone.
But the 60-year-old has vowed to fight on.
He said: "I'll just continue doing my job and suffice it to say I'm not going to get drawn into that question."
