Kieran Tierney opens up on Arsenal return as Celtic hero admits 'hard six months'

Relieved Kieran Tierney has explained his delight in getting back out on the pitch after six months of injury hell.

The luckless star has struggled to get started in London due to injury since his £25m move from Celtic last summer.

He was selected for last night's 3-0 defeat to Manchester City and was one of the few in Mikel Arteta's team to make any impression on the game.

The Gunners were hamstrung by a comical David Luiz performance as he was at fault for two goals and sent off.

But for Tierney, it was all about getting minutes under his belt as he aims to carve out a career in the Premier League.

He told Arsenal TV : "I felt good, I felt as could as I could be this time.

"Matches will get me match fit and I have done all I could possible to get fit for the match.

"The manager has trusted me to put me in and I'm very grateful.

"It's been a long six months and a hard six months but I have got there in the end.

"I'm just happy to get some minutes in."
