Kieran Tierney misses Scotland Euro 2020 opener as Arsenal star not in squad

Key Scotland star Kieran Tierney is out of Scotland's massive Euro 2020 Group D opener against Czech Republic at Hampden.

It was revealed on Saturday the Arsenal star didn't train fully with the squad in their final session at Middlesbrough's training base.

Scotland assistant John Carver played down fitness concerns but it appears doubts over Tierney were justified.

The former Celtic star battled back from a serious knee injury but won't play for his country in their biggest game in a generation.

Tierney's brilliance has been lauded by pundits and fans alike but he has been plagued by muscle injuries in recent seasons.

The 23-year-old's first season with Arsenal only came alive after lockdown as he was finally able to show supporters why he was £25m arrival from Parkhead.

His absence from the starting XI has forced Scotland boss Steve Clarke into a rethink and with the team he has selected today.

Scotland: Marshall; Hendry, Hanley, Cooper; O’Donnell, McTominay, McGinn, Armstrong, Robertson; Dykes, Christie
