Why Kieran Tierney couldn't pose in Arsenal strip as Gunners fan reveals details of chat

Kieran Tierney has been spotted near Arsenal's training ground ahead of a long-anticipated move to the north London club.

Gunners fan Paul Moody posted a picture of himself with the Celtic full-back after meeting him at a hotel close to London Colney in Hertfordshire this afternoon.

The pic had the caption "It's done boys! Welcome to Arsenal Kieran".

However, PA later caught up with Moody who said: "He signed a shirt for me and all he said was I can't have a photo with the Arsenal shirt in it as it's not been announced yet."

Tierney is expected to be confirmed as an Arsenal player ahead of the 5pm English deadline.

A £25million deal was agreed between the clubs last night after a summer of jostling which saw two earlier bids rejected by parkhead chiefs.

The fee is a new record for a Scottish player and Tierney will sign a five-year deal, believed to be worth more than £70,000 a week.

Arsenal are also on the verge of signing David Luiz from Chelsea today in a deal worth £8m.
