Kieran Tierney injury relief as Arsenal star set to hand Euro 2020 and Europa League Final boost

Scotland have been handed a major boost for the Euros after Arsenal confirmed Kieran Tierney is expected back in "two to three weeks."

There were major fears over the left-back's fitness after he went down with an injured knee against Liverpool earlier this month.

The initial prognosis was that he could be out for up to eight weeks - which had Steve Clarke sweating whether he would be match fit for Scotland 's Euro return in mid-June.

Those fears were deepened when Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta appeared to rule him out for the season, and refused to confirm whether he would be fit to play for his country this summer.

But it seems his rehab is going better than expected as a new update on the Arsenal website was optimistic.

They confirmed Tierney is making "positive progress" and expects to be back in training in "two to three weeks."

The update reads: "Kieran sustained ligament damage to his left knee during the match against Liverpool on April 3.

"Kieran continues to make positive progress and is hoping to be back in training within two to three weeks. "

All going to plan, Tierney could make his return against Crystal Palace (May 15) in Arsenal's penultimate Premier League game.

He would then have the final game of the season against Brighton, and potentially the Europa League final on Wednesday May 26, if Arsenal make it past Villarreal.

Clarke has until June 1 - just under six weeks from now - to name his final squad for the Euros.

That deadline is followed by warmup friendlies against the Netherlands and Luxembourg, ahead of the tournament kicking off on June 14.

And it seems increasingly likely that Tierney will be fit and available to play his part.
