Kieran Tierney injury latest as Arsenal left-back kept on the sidelines by 'fatigue' related knock

Injury-plagued Kieran Tierney could be nearing his return to the Arsenal squad after a series of knocks.

The 23-year-old Scotland international has been in top form in the English Premier League after recovering from a long-standing hip injury which plagued him towards the end of his Celtic career.

However, he has not featured from the Gunners since the 3-0 win over Newcastle on January 18 due to a calf complaint.

Boss Mikel Arteta confirmed that "a different injury" had now emerged and the left-back missed out on Arsenal's clash with Aston Villa last weekend.

However, Tierney could now be nearing a return after the latest scan results have come back clear.

The Athletic describe the injury as “discomfort in the right lower leg” and note that this could be related more to fatigue than something of greater concern.

The outlet add that scans are thought to have been clear and it is hoped he will not be out for long.
