Kieran Tierney in Scotland Euro 2020 sweat as Arsenal star faces six weeks out

Arsenal star Kieran Tierney is facing a sweat over his place at Euro 2020 as he faces up to six weeks out with a knee injury.

The defender has become a key man for Scotland, winning praise for three excellent performances over the last international break.

But the Celtic youth product was forced off with an injury against Liverpool at the weekend and has suffered knee ligament damage.

An Arsenal statement announced: "Kieran sustained ligament damage to his left knee during Saturday’s match against Liverpool.

"Surgery will not be required and it’s hoped that Kieran will be back in full training within four to six weeks."

If his recovery goes according to schedule then Tierney should be back in training in mid-May.

With the Premier League season ending on May 23 though he won't have much time to get up to speed ahead of Euro 2020.

Scotland get their campaign under way at Hampden on June 14 when Steve Clarke's men take on the Czech Republic.
