Kieran Tierney in Arsenal injury blow as Scotland star suffers hip injury ahead of West Ham test

Arsenal star Kieran Tierney is facing another injury sweat after he pulled out of the clash with West Ham after suffering a hip injury.

The Scotland international was named in Mikel Arteta's team to face the Hammers on Saturday night, having impressed against Fulham on the first weekend of the season.

However, the former Celtic talent was forced to pull out after suffering a hip injury in the warm-up, with Sead Kolasinac replacing him.

The 23-year-old has suffered with hip problems in the past, and the beginning of his Arsenal career was postponed as he recovered from surgery.

Tierney missed 17 games for Celtic in the 2018-19 season as he struggled with the issue.

The left-back then underwent groin surgery at the end of that season, before making a £25million move to the Gunners.

Tierney managed only 15 Premier League appearances in his first campaign, with his hip and a later shoulder injury limiting his impact.

He returned to the national team in almost two years for the Nations League ties with Israel and the Czech Republic.

Fans of both club and country will hope the latest setback is not too serious, with the defender having had recurring problems with his hip in the past.
