Kieran Tierney heart-to-heart with Neil Lennon as Arsenal package second bid for Celtic star

Kieran Tierney has plenty to mull over as he joins in the first day of Celtic 's pre-season training camp in Austria.

The left-back is at the centre of a major transfer tussle with Arsenal preparing a new bid to entice him away from his beloved Parkhead.

And it appears Neil Lennon is offering words of wisdom to his star man during a quiet moment as the Hoops get down to work in Graz.

The Gunners had a £15m bid rejected at the weekend but have been warned off coming in with an improved offer of around £18m as the figure still falls way short of Celtic’s £25m valuation.

It is understood Arsenal are weighing up their options but are wary at blowing more than half of their £40m summer recruitment budget on the left-back.

It's a saga which is set to drag on with Tierney currently working his way back to full fitness in Austria after coming through a double hernia operation.

Meanwhile former Scotland international Kevin Gallacher reckons Tierney would be a smash hit at Arsenal - and prove to be a much better option than Nacho Monreal.

Gallacher told the Herald: “Kieran can definitely cope with a move to Arsenal.

“He is a quality player. A team like Arsenal play football. I think it will suit Kieran and the way he plays – he is an attacking full-back. That is a strength of his.

“At the moment, they have got Monreal playing full-back. I think Kieran is a lot better than him.

“Arsenal scouts have obviously been watching him very closely over a period of time and their analysts have looked at different aspects of his play. They clearly believe he will fit in to the system that they play.

“If Kieran goes down there, stays patient and grasps his opportunity with both hands when he gets it then the sky is the limit for him.

“He isn’t stupid. He will have seen what Andy Robertson did at  Liverpool . If he takes a leaf out of Andy’s book he will do well.”
