Kieran Tierney given Arsenal exemption as worried pundit wonders ‘what’s going through his mind’

Arsenal legend Martin Keown admits he feels for Kieran Tierney after the Gunners were demolished by Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta's men slumped to the bottom of the English Premier League as the champions ran riot in the 5-0 victory over 10-man London outfit.

Pressure continues to grow on former Rangers man Arteta with with the big-spending side yet to claim a point so far this term.

One man that was given a pass in the horror show was Scotland cap Tierney.

Pundit Steve McManaman, who branded the Arsenal performance a disgrace, said on BT Sport: “You wonder what is going through people like Kieran Tierney’s mind.

“He’s considered as one of the better players, one of the better defenders and they are just getting defeated easily every single week.”

Club legend Keown admitted: “I do feel for the likes of Tierney - you see the body language - he doesn’t stop giving 100 per cent but there will soon be no one to pass though.”

Tierney have looked to have picked up a knock, but the former Celtic left-back returned to the field after a heavy second half challenge.

Following the disappointing league opener for the 24-year-old, he will join up with Steve Clarke's squad for the World Cup qualifier triple header.
