Kieran Tierney earns Arsenal 'something special in his blood' acclaim as Mikel Arteta marvels at sub-zero warm-up

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has joked that Kieran Tierney must have "something special in his blood" after warming up in a t-shirt in ice-cold conditions.

The Gunners left-back bagged a special solo effort to put Arteta's side 1-0 up in their Premier League clash against the West Brom on Saturday night.

Despite another impressive outing for the former Celtic man at the Hawthorns, it was his pre-match warm-up that got fans talking as they loved his shorts and t-shirt choice in the snow while teammates were wrapped up.

It was such a talking point that Arteta was asked about the 23-year-old's choice to brave the cold after the 4-0 win.

He said: "I don’t know he’s got something special in his blood, because we are wearing snood and hats and gloves and he just goes there with his shorts and t-shirt. It’s not like he’s acting as well.

"For him he’s very comfortable like that."

The Arsenal boss has been delighted with the showings from the left-back as the club enjoy an upturn in form in the Premier League.

He added: "Ever since the moment that I joined the club and he went through his shoulder injury, I see a player with enormous talent, with the perfect attitude and commitment and then a kid who is a joy to work with.

"And I’m so happy for him for the goal he scored, everything that he’s put in to be better every day, towards the team towards the club. He had some issues to adapt.

"It was a challenge for him to leave his house and we are all trying to help him because the kid really deserves this. He’s a joy to work with."
