Former Celtic hero Kieran Tierney is a natural born leader and has quickly become one of the best left-backs in the Premier League.
But Arsenal legend Paul Merson wishes he'd stop trying to solve all of the club's on-pitch faults by himself.
The Gunners got off to a shaky start this season but have won their last three games with league victories against Norwich and Burnley before sweeping AFC Wimbledon aside in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
They play Leeds United in the next round as Mikel Arteta looks for another trophy to go with the FA Cup he lifted last summer.
Tierney will be crucial in that run but Merson insists the ex-Parkhead youngster is trying to do too much of everything.
The Soccer Saturday man insists KT has become something of a "school captain" ahead of this weekend's North London Derby against Tottenham.
As he and former Spurs man Jamie O'Hara predicted their combined XIs for the match, he told 90min : "I like Tierney.
"The problem is that he is becoming a bit of a school captain.
"He is trying to do everything. Instead of doing his job, like stopping crosses, he’s trying to do everything.
"So he is caught in between. Stop the cross or get back into a position."
But Merson would still take the Scotland star over Spurs counterpart Sergio Reguilon all day long.
He added: "I like Reguilon. But I have got to go for Tierney. He is one of the main players for Arsenal, and if he can’t get in the team then I am struggling."
