Kieran Tierney Arsenal shirt number revealed after transfer deadline day deal

Arsenal have confirmed Kieran Tierney's shirt number after signing the Scotland international from Celtic on a long-term deal on transfer deadline day.

The Scotland international, 22, joined from the Scottish champions for a fee of £25million on Thursday afternoon.

He becomes the club's fifth summer signing following the arrivals of Nicolas Pepe, Dani Ceballos, William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli.

Tierney has been handed the number three shirt by Unai Emery, suggesting that - once he is fit - the 22-year-old will be expected to be Arsenal's No.1 choice on the left flank.

Previous players to have worn the same shirt number at the north London club include Frank McLintock, Lee Dixon, Ton Adams, Nogel Winterburn, Ashley Cole, Bacary Sagna and, most recently Jordi Osei-Tutu.

Emery told Arsenal's official website: "We're delighted Kieran is joining us.

"He's a very talented player who will continue to improve.

"He increases our options defensively and I look forward to him joining our group."

Tierney, who has won 12 caps for Scotland, made over 150 appearances for Celtic after making his debut in 2014.
