Kieran Tierney Arsenal knee injury latest as Mikel Arteta reveals what star said after hobbling off

Concerned Mikel Arteta admits he is sweating over the fitness of star man Kieran Tierney after he hobbled off during the 3-0 defeat to Liverpool with a knee injury.

The Arsenal medical staff raced onto the pitch with the former Celtic star left in a crumpled heap as concerned team-mates also gathered round him.

Tierney's all-action displays for the Gunners and Scotland have led to some rave reviews with Pat Nevin even claiming he will become the most expensive defender in history.

Arteta will wait to see the full extent of the knock suffered by the influential 23-year-old after a dreary night on the pitch.

He said: “Kieran felt something in his knee.

“He was in pain so it looks like he will be injured but we don't know how long for.”

Arsenal face Slavia Prague on Thursday and Scotland boss Steve Clarke will be anxiously watching on ahead of Euro 2020.

Tierney was brilliant during the three games last week and bagged a hat-trick of assists against the Faroe Islands on Wednesday.
