Kieran Tierney Arsenal form hailed by Callum McGregor as he pinpoints the positional shift that can benefit Scotland

Callum McGregor feels Kieran Tierney 's Arsenal form can only benefit Scotland when the Euro 2020 play-offs come around.

The left-back struggled with injury after his £25million move from Celtic, but has established himself in Mikel Arteta's team in recent weeks.

Tierney hasn't played for Scotland since October 2018 when he was part of the side that beat Israel in the Nations League.

It's the same opponents who await Steve Clarke 's side almost two years to the day after that fixture, with the national team looking to reach Euro 2020.

McGregor has impressed with Tierney's recent form and told the BBC : "He's been great. I saw him playing left-side centre back and I thought he was excellent.

"He's gone from strength to strength and is playing a bit wider now.

"I think they've got a settled team and he seems to be part of that. Everyone that knew him knew that, once he got over his injury worries, he had the quality to make an impact.

"To get Kieran back fit again and back in the Scotland squad is a massive boost."
