Kieran Tierney Arsenal captain calls grow as former Celtic star tipped for armband by Gunners invincible

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour insists Kieran Tierney is well on his way to earning the captaincy at the Emirates Stadium.

And he believes the former Celtic star's attitude and will to win has been a breath of fresh air at the club.

The Scotland defender has become a fans' favourite in North London since his £25million switch in August 2019.

In a pricey squad falling way short of expectations in mid-table, Tierney's emergence has been a bright spot that Gunners fans can savour as a reason to be hopeful in the years ahead.

And Parlour - who turned out for the club from 1992 and ended his Highbury career after the Invincibles campaign of 2003-04 - believes he'll earn the armband soon enough.

The so-called 'Romford Pele' told talkSPORT: "I really like his attitude.

"He turns up every week, you can see the desire when he’s playing, he really wants to win every game.

"He gives 100 per cent and is fantastic down that left hand side. That’s where Arsenal are most dangerous, that’s where the deliveries come from into the box.

"He’s been a brilliant signing and he’s a really good lad as well, he’s really down to earth. He could probably be the Arsenal captain in the future."
