Kieran Tierney and Ryan Christie lead Scotland withdrawals as Celtic star also misses Rangers clash over Covid carnage

Three Scotland players will miss the game against Israel after Stuart Armstrong tested positive for coronavirus.

The Southampton star is out of the Euro 2020 playoff clash, while Kieran Tierney and Ryan Christie have also been forced into isolation.

Two members of the backroom staff have been put into self-isolation as well.

It means the trio will miss all of the matches involving Scotland over the next while Christie has now also been ruled out of Celtic's game against Rangers on October 17.

It's a huge blow for Steve Clarke and Scotland ahead of the playoff but the Scotland boss rightly insists that the health of the players and staff members is the most important thing.

He said: “While this is obviously disappointing news the most important thing is the health and safety of the individuals involved and the wider group.

“As soon as we were informed of the positive test, the Chief Medical Consultant immediately contacted the Scottish Government’s clinical adviser, who in turn alerted the local Health Protection Team.

“We have informed the respective clubs from whom we have borrowed the players and backroom staff and we now have to prepare for a huge match ahead tomorrow.”
